Harold Hubschman and Jim Fleming are veteran political organizers who have spent over 25 years combined running large statewide signature drives. We specialize in complex projects that require non traditional approaches, such as executing multiple simultaneous signature drives to take full advantage of economies of scale, and have substantial experience complying with strict local laws on certification, petition notarization and circulator residency. We work with the top professional petitioners in the country, and maintain extensive contacts among Democratic and Republican operatives in most states, allowing us to rapidly deploy national caliber teams anywhere in the country and augment them with high level local talent. We have managed both paid and volunteer drives and are experts at combining the two to maximize both.
We have a 100% record of success. We have never failed to qualify a candidate or initiative.
Our firm, SpoonWorks, is based in Massachusetts, where the Boston Globe(12/5/99) describes us as "the undisputed leader" of the state's robust petitioning industry and the Boston Herald (4/26/02) writes that we have the business of petitioning "down to a science." Among our many drives, in 1999 we set the Massachusetts record, which still stands, by collecting over 325,000 signatures in eight weeks to fully qualify three separate initiatives simultaneously. In the winter of 2003/2004, we collected the signatures to place John Kerry on the presidential ballot in Vermont at the height of Howard Dean mania and in the face of brutal winter storms. In 2006, we collected the signatures to place gubernatorial candidates of all three opposing parties on the ballot in Massachusetts, and then collected the signatures to qualify Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman's independent candidacy, a drive that was executed with complete discretion in under ten days, despite intense media attention and speculation.
In addition to signature gathering, we are experts in most areas of campaign operations.
Harold has managed or consulted on ballot initiative campaigns across the ideological spectrum. He has assisted numerous campaigns in building voter lists and targeting voters, and is an expert political and corporate speechwriter.
Jim runs an active polling consultancy that specializes in statewide, municipal and legislative races around the country. He is one of the top organizers in the Democratic party with experience at all levels of presidential campaign operations. During the 2000 general election, he was the deputy political director for the Democratic National Committee. During the 2004 general election, he was the transportation director for the national convention in Boston, and was then the national paid phone bank director for the DNC. Additionally, he has helped organize and run presidential and gubernatorial caucuses and primaries in a number of states.
We are hands on petition drive managers who bring experience and energy to every project we undertake. We know how to roll up our sleeves and work with our petitioners to keep your drive on track and functioning smoothly. If you hire us, you will be on the ballot. Period.
